Who We Are

Jane S. Kramer, Ph.D., Executive Director

Jane Kramer, Ph.D., Executive DirectorJane Kramer started the recorder at age 7 with early music specialist Arnold Grayson in Miami, Florida. She has taught recorder to over 100 children and adults. She plays oboe and English horn with the American Philharmonic/Sonoma and has been a soloist with the Mill Valley Philharmonic and College of Marin Orchestra.

With a Ph.D. in urban policy and planning from the University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Kramer has worked as a researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, and as a consultant for public sector and non-profit organizations.

After being awarded a grant to “pursue a passion” from an anonymous donor at Vassar College, she returned to her musical roots to fulfill a dream of replicating the vision of the Fine Arts Music Conservatory of Miami which she attended as a child.
 


Faculty and Interns


Robin Nzingah SmithRobin Nzingah Smith

Robin Nzingah Smith has studied at Boston’s Berklee College of Music and Rutgers University. Nzingah currently plays with Infinite Kin and B-Free, and is the lead alto-saxophonist in Oakland’s Count Basie Tribute Band. She teaches music at the San Francisco School, Head Royce, and the Oakland Public Music Conservatory.


Lichi Fuentes

Lichi FuentesLichi Fuentes attended the University of Chile Music School, in Santiago, where she studied voice, guitar and music theory. While at University Lichi formed Conjunto Amanda, the first all-women ensemble in Chile. Lichi was a member of Grupo Raiz for five years, touring and performing in North and South America, and Europe. She takes part in a wide variety of activities ranging from South American children's music with Colibri, to Caribbean dance music. She is also a public schools music teacher and the musical director of La Peña Community Chorus. Her new CD, QUIEN SOY (Who I Am), produced by Wayne Wallace, has just been released.

 

Sarah Wolf

Sarah Wolf has been bringing the joy of music to hundreds of children in Marin County since 2002. A full time music specialist at Neil Cummins Elementary School, Sarah teaches vocal music to grades 1-4. She also directs The First Class Chorus, a children’s community chorus in Corte Madera. Sarah teaches a mix of Orff and Kodaly Methods with an emphasis on cross-curricular teaching.

She sang the role of Hansel in Hansel und Gretel with the Brevard Opera Company and The Rome Festival in Italy and currently sings with the San Francisco Renaissance Voices.

Sarah also loves sailing, hiking and eating.

Interns

Claire GreenfieldClaire Greenfield

Claire Greenfield is a senior at Redwood High School and a flutist in the Redwood High School jazz band and Marin Youth Symphony. She has been an ELM intern for the past two years, mentoring many young musicians. She will be attending Kenyon College in Ohio in the Fall.

Tucker FisherTucker Fisher

Tucker is a trumpet player in the jazz band at Redwood High School and in the Marin Youth Symphony. This is his second year as an intern with ELM. Tucker is also ELM’s resident photographer and videographer.


Tyler CosterTyler Coster

Tyler Coster has been playing guitar for about five years, and drums for about three. He plays various styles of music, from light jazz to hard rock. A junior at San Rafael High School, Tyler plays guitar with San Rafael's top jazz band and percussion in the wind ensemble. Tyler loves teaching music to kids and hopes to inspire future generations to cherish the art of music.
