About ELM

Our Philosophy
ELM’s philosophy is that music, like language, must be internalized from a young age to maximize the opportunity for fluency and the potential for its deep appreciation. ELM is based on the premise that all children have the right to discover and develop their musicianship and to have adults in their lives who have high expectations for what they can achieve.

Our Program
ELM’s core program consists of weekly recorder and musicianship classes throughout the academic year for groups of up to 8 elementary school age children. Summer music camps and weekend sessions are also offered. All students receive one-on-one coaching, mentoring by accomplished young musicians, and opportunities to mentor less experienced players. Students have ongoing opportunities for ensemble playing and performance. As students graduate from the advanced recorder class, they will be offered the opportunity to pursue other instruments.

ELM offers:

“Today I really had so much fun. The music you put on was great. I learned
to read music and I learned to play faster. I really thank you for teaching me.”
